This house is built to be open. Glass walls that slide away, a gathering room that runs straight out to the terrace, a crow's nest above it looking north up the beach. Rooms like that are wonderful to live in and difficult to put technology into, because there is almost nowhere for it to hide.

So most of it isn't visible. The speakers through the main living spaces are Stealth Acoustics, which install behind drywall and get plastered and painted over, so the ceiling reads as a ceiling. The televisions in the gathering room and crow's nest are Samsung Frame displays that show artwork when they're off. The shades sit in pockets at the head of the glass. Where a device had to be seen, like the keypads and the four touchscreens in the kitchen, primary suite, primary bath, and studio, it was placed to sit with the architecture rather than interrupt it.

Underneath is a network built for the property rather than the floor plan. Twelve wireless access points, three of them outdoor rated, cover the house from the studio through to the sun terrace, the exterior dining area, and the pool deck. Two equipment racks carry the video matrix, a sixteen zone audio matrix, and separate control processors for the gathering room, the crow's nest, and the primary suite, so each of those spaces runs on its own rather than waiting on one central brain. Outdoors, the pool audio runs on Coastal Source, specified for what salt air does to everything else.
